FAQ

Q: How did you decide on your queer labels?

A: As a kid, I’d always been passionate and LGBTQ+ rights and topics and always found it as being one of the topics I’d choose for projects and papers and such. It wasn’t until college tho, that I really started realizing that I would also be a part of the demographic I was passionate about. Someone had made a passing comment about me reproducing asexually since I’d never had an interest in the same things others did, and it got me to thinking. Even then, asexual is a broad spectrum and I didn’t feel like just asexual or even demisexual fit. One day, I was reading a fanfic and came across the term grey-asexual and looked further into and felt so relieved to find something that fit so well. I still switch around on the romance aspect tho because sometimes I think I understand and then I realize I don’t.

Q: How did you get into reading?

A: As a kid, I enjoyed finding a means of escape, so when I went to the school library for the first time, I was hooked. I started off with the Magic School Bus series and then found my way to Harry Potter and then somehow fell into reading Edgar Allan Poe, all before middle school. My aunt was my biggest encourager. She also enjoyed reading, so  she went out of her way to make sure I access to books I wanted to read, even if it meant we did a split screen on her laptop with each of our separate books.

Q: Why did you pick MTSU?

A: There were a few reasons. For one, it was more affordable than my actual preferred schools. For two, my cousin was also going to be attending. And lastly, I had just moved to Murfreesboro the year before, so it was convenient.
